Guidelines For S&S.org

Posting on S&S.org:

General Rule to Post By: Treat others like you would like to be treated. It is a simple concept. Most of us have heard this since grade school. So please try to act grown up enough to follow it. We know people get heated in gaming bravado and we will tolerate those actions, but if it gets excessive, we will have problems

Keep posts informative / useful: Posting with the sole intent to increase your post count is a waste of everyone's time. Please do not do it. Spam areas will be up there, but at least say something, we aren't expecting you to post much, but keep the grammar and English correct so people can actually read. Remember, this is a forum, no one cares what you say.

Sub-forums: There are many sub-forums that have been designed to help organize this website. Changes to these sub-forums is an ongoing process. Please try to make your threads in the appropriate sections. This will help to keep the website organized and will promote traffic to all of the areas. If stuff gets out of line, it will not represent too much an issue unless the process is ongoing.

General Disagreements: Lets face it, debates and disagreements are a part of everyday life. Online forums / websites are no exception to this rule. The nice thing about a forum is that if you do not like the discussion, or your feelings are being hurt, then you have the choice to close the thread and move on. If you are able to make this decision and carry this out, your enjoyment of S&S.org/Tally Ho will most assuredly increase!

Almost Anything Goes (AAG): This is the area for general conversations, that otherwise don’t fit into another sub-forum. Due to the nature of this section, there will be disagreements that may result in “flame wars” between members. These so called battles should be contained within this section. You keep the BS in the AAG section, and we won't be throwing the ban hammer around. This is between forum members, not between admins/mods and members. If you have a formal disagreement, take it to PMs. AAG is exactly what it says, Almost Anything Goes. You are free to act at will within the few guidelines we provide.

Hate Speech: If you so much as make a racist comment towards another member, you will be banned. Appeals can be made, and forum conduct will be considered, but until such time after a formal appeal from a dilberation of administration, straight up ban. Due to the nature of this website, and the mission statement in providing for Military members, we do not endorse or sponsor racism, but remarks made against countries we are officially at war with, within reason, will be tolerated.

Negatively Posting (aka Bashing): Excessive bashing based on race, sex, sexual preferences, etc. will not be tolerated. Bashing of S&S.org members will not be tolerated. While we all enjoy joking around, try to keep it at a reasonable level. What is reasonable / excessive is, again, up to interpretation by the members and staff of S&S.org. It should be clear to a majority of S&S.org members, that a person is repeatedly and excessively bashing another member, by the time that S&S.org staff become involved. This will usually be brought to the attention of the poster by a staff member in the form of a PM warning. If the behavior continues, then disciplinary action will be taken.

Usage of the S&S.org Forums:

Announcements / Stickies: Read them for each section. Specific rules for each subforum will be located in these threads at the top of each section. Failure to read / understand these subform specific rules, is not an excuse for breaking them. If the rules are unclear, please PM a moderator or admin about them for clarification.

Introduction: All members of the S&S.org Forums are required to post an introduction. This is meant for staff and members to get a greeting from new and perspective members, as well as those who join for tournament or discussion purposes. Members who fail at this request will be guided to the appropriate thread. If a forum member ignores this rule, they could face disciplinary actions. This is a test of members, the request is plainly posted, and it tells staff if new members are on the up and up.

Account / Computer Usage: You are responsible for your account and should be the only person to ever sign on with it. Usage of another person’s user name / account is strictly prohibited. If it is determined that more than one person is signing onto an account, that account is subject to being banned. This also extends to your computer / IP address. Choose who uses your computer / IP address carefully. If they are found to be in violation of the rules in a severe enough manner to warrant an IP ban, you will be banned from S&S.org as well.

Avatars / Signatures: Please remember that these images / statements are displayed to people each and every time that you post. So please consider this when choosing them. Nudity, partial nudity, or any videos that portray sexual activity is forbidden. These are subject to removal without warning, at any time, as deemed necessary by S&S.org staff. If they are replaced, disciplinary action will be taken. We don't really have limits, but if they are too big, at our discretion, we will remove the signature and then ask you to resize. Sig sizes are not enforced and Avatar settings are automatically re-rendered. We do ask that signatures be of reasonable size, somewhere in the ballpark of 450x150. No more than one image per sig. For S&S members, all sigs must be approved for use by staff, should they display the S&S logo or any subsequent material created by and for S&S members and staff.

If you represent another forum, webcomic or other For-Profit organization, we ask that you contact administration for permission to post your links. Sponsorship is open of course, but single lines of text in sigs are allowed. Webcomics will be allowed more for equal opportunity advertising.

Private Messages (PM): You should obey all of the guidelines listed in “Posting on S&S.org”, when you send someone a PM. In general, private messages should remain private. It betrays the confidence of others, when you publicly post their private correspondence to you. An obvious exception to this would be when someone is violating the general rules of posting. Then their PM(s) should be forwarded to a S&S.org staff member.

Alter Egos (AE): Please do not register accounts for use as an AE. As a general rule they are not funny and they waste time / bandwidth. They are subject to being banned without warning, at the discretion of the S&S.org staff, at any time. If an AE does not cause too much trouble, and is generally hilarious, we will forgo action, for the sake of humor.

Forum Invasions: Do not use S&S.org to formulate your plans to invade, annoy, or cause any harm to websites / forums. If we find out a plan is set towards this forum, there will be immediate perma-bans.

Illegal Software / Programs / Files: Simply put, no warez. Do not discuss illegally obtaining any copyrighted materials. This includes, but is not limited to: programs, CD-keys, key generators, cracks, or music files (.mp3, .wav, etc). Do not post any links, or even discuss ways to obtain these copyrighted works.

Attempts to Circumvent Rules: Please note that these are the general guidelines, but are not an all inclusive set of rules. This is intentional on our part, as we do not want a rigid set of rules that every post must be governed by. These rules are flexible. This is done with the best interests of the posters in mind. So please try to focus on following all of the above guidelines, as opposed to finding ways around them.

S&S.org Staff: The admins and moderators of S&S.org are here to help keep the forums running as smoothly as possible. We all donate our time to this website, because we enjoy it and feel that we have something to offer in an attempt to improve it. If an admin or moderator asks you to do something, please comply with their request. If you do not agree with what they are asking, please do as they ask and then contact another moderator or admin, in an attempt to obtain resolution to your complaint(s) or issue(s).

Please note that any moderator or admin of S&S.org has the right to move, merge, split, edit or delete any thread / post / signature / avatar that they deem necessary. Do NOT attempt to retaliate against an admin or moderator by making threads about it with negative comments about them or what they have done. If any user has a problem with an action taken by the staff, please direct all complaints to an admin and give them time to attempt to find a solution to the problem.

Intellectual Property: As time of signing up as a member, all members agree to maintain secrecy of internal affairs and projects. All Property, images, written or otherwise are property of the Sins & Saints entity. Discussion of internal affairs or projects to unapproved parties is subject to immediate removal and ban from the team and website.

Non-Compete Clause: Members agree that if they remove themselves in a manner unbecoming, or are removed by force (Banned or Dishonorable Discharge), they forfeit the right to compete as a gaming development entity.

Disciplinary Action: For the sake of the forums, Immediate action will be taken at the discretion of the administrator or moderator. Severe action will be deliberated, and a sufficient reason will be given to the complainant. Action is at the discretion of the admin or mod. Each has been chosen because of proven ability to abide and respect the Mission Statement.

S&S Member Disciplinary actions: Sins & Saints Members are subject to rules as dictated by the By-Laws, actions as requested on the forums, are to be followed at all times. Actions pertaining to S&S members, within S&S specific sections, are subject to the rules as voted upon by the majority of the S&S membership as of December 2009. Should problems arise within S&S specific areas, disciplinary action will be handled through By-Law procedures.
