thats pretty sweet, they say its like WWII jump from prop - jet engine. How is this different than a jet engine?

because the technology is so improved it's similar to the change from props to jets back in the 50's. But holy shit...that thing went mach 6??? thats over 3600 mph o______o

Omg, this is awesome. If they find any issues/problems they can resolve and create better results with Hypersonic engines, I can see so many opportunities for new weapons, new Fighters, new Bombers, new Cargo Airlift's, UAV's, ICBM's, the list goes on and on.
Could you imagine having a Hypersonic sidewinder screaming at you?
Mach 6 is six times the speed of sound, the speed of sound is around 768 MPH given the right conditions (air). Mach 6 is around 4600+ MPH if the air density and air pressure and some other stuff I'm not familiar with yet is right.

you wouldn't have time to imagine a Hypersonic Sidewinder screaming at you.......(i was dead before i finished that sentence)

Unless you had a Hypersonic Jet capable of evading it.

lol so begins the era of hypersonic aerodynamics, cant wait to design planes that can do that

Sounds boring.

Uh, the space shuttle goes Mach 30, Noobs

That's to be expected Tim, however a missile or even an earth bound aircraft traveling at Hypersonic speeds is not. Which is why this breakthrough is incredible.
