Here are a few pics that I took in my trip to the Air Zoo In Kalamaoo, MI. I actually only live a few hours away from there. The last one is of me, sitting in the cockpit of an F-14A Tomcat(and now you all know what i look like...) I actually took these pics in 2008, but recently came across them again and figured I would post them.

That's the engine of an SR-71 Blackbird. They had a Blackbird there as well.

There were even some full movement flight sims there. I'm not sure what was more fun, flying it myself, or laughing at my parents with their attempt at flying.
Nice, the backgrounds they painted on the walls are pretty epic
Awesome, I'd like to get in a real simulator myself.
AC6 and well... just about any Xbox 360 title have way better graphics than most simulators but the physics and the field of view are second to none. Plus it changes everything to have working slewable radar, spin recovery computer/ powered wing stalls & tailspins, weapon safety/ jettison, and other stuff they don't usually but in games like Flameouts (very scary)! Just using the radios during flight at causes task overload at first.

That's the reason I want to get in one and try it out. AC6 is realistic, but sitting on my couch looking at a high def tv, has got to be a lot different then a real flight sim.
IL-2 is pretty damn close when you play it on realistic. Over push your AOA and poof!... powered wing stall! And it's not like pulling out is going to save you in a flat or tail spin. Plus WWII era birds dont have any computerized spin recovery like a modern fighter. In an F/A-18A+ you can release the stick and toggle the spin recovery mode on for an auto-stabilizing save via the G model Flight Control Computer. If I am not mistaken the technology was first used on AV-8B's to augment their hover instabilities at low altitude. Lord knows losing it in a hover at low altitude and not having some way of pointing your radome down to recover some lift makes for an unplanned seat ride. Just learning the cockpit instrumentation for the Hornet took me 6 months longer for the C-130T (because it's more comprehensive and I had to know it blind for in the event of a smoke filled cockpit)(gotta be able to find your O2 and the cabin over pressure vent valve manual release. Lets just say its scary to be hitting swithces in blacked out goggles.)
